JohnStuff Non-audio Blog

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

I’ve been unable to do any recording lately and probably won’t for several days. So, I’m going to just blog some stuff that I would have recorded.

I’ve been working on a rather big project lately. I’ve been ripping all my cd’s to mp3 and burning them onto dvd’s. So far I have 4 dvd’s with about 60-70 cd’s on each. Now I have to start converting all the vinyl lp’s.
I also have a ton of pictures to scan from old negatives and boxes of photos.
Someone asked me if I would have enough to do when I eventually retire…..I think so.

Rant: I’m getting so sick and tired to turning on any morning news show and being told how they are going to help me with my New Year’s resolution to lose weight and get in shape! I HAVE NO SUCH RESOLUTION! And I am tired of these people assuming that I do.
I am also getting really sick and tired of the blatant political bias of the news media – especially CNN. If you haven’t noticed it then you and I will probably be voting differently in November.

Little Stories for Little Children: Here’s another one.
MARY AND LUCY.
Had each a nice doll, and they took care of them. One day Tom called them to play at ball, and they ran away to play, and left the two dolls on a chair. By and by the cat came in the room, and pulled the dolls to pieces, thinking I dare say, that it was fine fun to tear them to bits, and scamper round the room with poor dolly’s nose in her mouth. When the girls came back, and saw the nice new dolls all in bits, they began to cry, and to beat poor puss; but their mamma said, “No, you must not beat puss, for you left your dolls about, and the cat did not know that they were not for her to play with. Next time you must be more careful of your toys.”

From the “What They Really Mean Department”: I’ve seen a couple of ads on TV for a chicken dinner where the family gets up and applauds Mom for being smart enough to purchase and prepare the chicken dinner that has meat from birds that where not fed antibiotics.
I can’t help but wonder if the company producing the meals didn’t have a conversation somewhat like this –
“So what do we do with all these sickly chickens that didn’t get their antibiotics?”
“Let’s just hype the fact that they’re antibiotic-free and process them anyway.”

I can’t think of anything else right now.

Bill’s Last Day

In case you didn’t see this on the news the other night, here’s a video on YouTube about Bill Gates last day at work.
I thought it was pretty funny.
