I’m a Winner (Again)

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

Anyone else experiencing this…..

Everyday (really) I get an enevelope from Publishers Clearinghouse. If I was to browse through all the papers inside, locate all the appropriate stickers, stick the stickers in their specific spots, seal up the entry with the proper numbers showing through the little window in the return envelope, and slap a stamp on it…..I would never get anything else done!
Actually, I figured out that if I filled out and mailed every entry, I could win the $$$$$$$$, but it would only be enough to compensate me for all that postage I spent trying to win the prize money!

Another Observation

On almost every tv commercial which shows a computer screen – there’s a bar graph on the screen. Now, I don’t know about you, but when I’m working on my computer at work – no bar graph. Even if I was doing a project which resulted in the creation of a bar graph, the graph is the end result of the work – not the work itself!

Star Trek

Friday, September 8th, 2006

For those who don’t know – uit’s the 40th anniversary of the premiere of Star Trek in 1966.

I recently found a site onlione where fans of the original show are actually (at their own expense) creating new episodes which pick up where the original series left off when it was cancelled. They have new actors portraying Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the rest of the crew.

The main site is at Star Trek New Voyages.

And, here’s a link to the site I used to download the files – Star Trek Episodes.

I downloaded the first couple of episodes and have watched the first. Once you get past the different actors, it’s amazingly similar to the style of writing and atmosphere. The sets are either actual Star Trek props (according to the site), or they are re-creations of the originals.

I snapped a few screen captures. Here is the Enterprise coming out of drydock –

Here’s another shot of the Enterprise –

Here’s Kirk coming out of the turbolift onto the bridge –

Lt. Uhura –

Mr. Spock –

Even the instrumentation looks like the original. Here’s the navigation console chronometer –

Finally, here’s McCoy, Spock and Kirk in the Captain’s quarters drinking some Romulan ale –

Spam Pt. 2

Saturday, September 2nd, 2006

I have removed the NAME and EMAIL requirement from the comments. It didn’t stop the spam from getting through. I am now trying a “type the word” to stop the spam bots.

Comment Update

Friday, September 1st, 2006

Due to a heavy volume of spam comments I have had to add the requirement of NAME and EMAIL in order to post a comment. Sorry about the inconvenience, but I’m getting tired of having to manually delete all that spam everyday. If that doesn’t help then this version of WordPress only leaves me the option of turning off comments completely (or upgrading WordPress).
